About Us

Samudayik Sarathi, a distinguished national non-governmental organization (NGO), has been a beacon of change since its inception in 2007. With a steadfast commitment to democracy, governance, and social justice, Sarathi employs a rights-based approach to catalyze positive transformations in society.

At its core, Sarathi is driven by three overarching goals: fostering citizens’ active participation, advocating for gender and social equality, and championing the principles of good governance. These pillars form the foundation of Sarathi’s endeavors, guiding its strategic priorities and initiatives.

One of Sarathi’s key strategic focuses lies in institutionalizing fundamental rights, advancing the implementation of federalism, empowering women, and enhancing public accountability. Through meticulous efforts, Sarathi has achieved significant milestones, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of social change.

With an impressive track record, Sarathi has orchestrated 141 Youth Focus Constitutional Dialogues across 45 towns, facilitating meaningful discussions and contributing public opinions to various thematic committees in the Constituent Assembly. Additionally, the organization has conducted 855 Youth and Women Focus Legislative Town Hall Meetings across 66 districts, engaging with over 43,210 marginalized individuals. These engagements have led to tangible outcomes, influencing legislative changes and policy reforms in critical areas such as sexual harassment, labor rights, witchcraft crimes, social security, truth and reconciliation, and enforced disappearances etc.

Sarathi’s impactful campaigns, including the advocacy for the “No Vote Option,” have exerted substantial pressure, resulting in significant reforms mandated by the Supreme Court. Moreover, the organization’s innovative approaches, such as Intergenerational Dialogues, have amplified the voices of the marginalized, driving initiatives like menstrual hygiene and the provision of free sanitary pads for adolescent girls in almost local governments.

Through collaborative efforts, Sarathi has played a pivotal role in shaping local governance, contributing to the formulation and passage of critical acts, policies, and guidelines. From the establishment of gender training models in flood-prone areas to the enactment of progressive legislation on governance, land management, alcohol control, grievance handling, and biodiversity conservation, Sarathi’s impact resonates across various spheres of societal development. In essence, Samudayik Sarathi stands as a testament to the power of grassroots activism and collective action, forging pathways towards a more equitable and just society for all.
